Steel vs Plastic Tanks
- Pre-1980 Models (A, B, C, E-Body) – Almost all use steel tanks. We offer upgraded galvanized steel for better rust resistance.
- Later Models (F, M, K/L-Body) – Mostly plastic tanks designed to resist corrosion.
Common Mopar Fuel Tank Problems
- Rust and pinhole leaks (especially on B-Body and C-Body tanks)
- Cracking on plastic tanks from age and heat
- Leaking seams and deteriorated gaskets
- Failed sending units causing inaccurate fuel gauge readings

Mopar fuel tanks are often interchangeable within the same body style, but year, wheelbase, engine, and tank location (rear, side, mid-ship) can affect fitment. Contact us with your year, make, model, and body style and we’ll help you choose the correct tank.
