Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to the most common questions we receive about fuel tanks, sending units, and fuel system parts.
General Questions
Q: What is the difference between steel and plastic fuel tanks?
A: Steel tanks are heavier and stronger, making them ideal for classic vehicles and restorations. Plastic tanks are lighter, rust-proof, and are the standard on most modern vehicles.
Q: How do I know which fuel tank fits my vehicle?
A: You need your exact year, make, model, and engine size (and sometimes cab/bed length). We recommend contacting us if you're unsure — we’ll help you find the correct one.
Q: Should I replace my sending unit when installing a new fuel tank?
A: Yes, we strongly recommend it. Replacing both at the same time prevents future gauge problems and fuel leaks.
Product & Ordering Questions
Q: Do your tanks include sending units and straps?
A: Some kits include them, but most tanks are sold separately. Check the product description or contact us to confirm what’s included.
Q: How long is the warranty on your fuel tanks?
A: Most of our tanks come with a 3 or 5-year warranty depending on the model. Please check the individual product page for details.
Q: Do you ship to my state?
A: Yes, we ship nationwide. Some states have restrictions on shipping fuel tanks due to regulations.
Installation & Technical Questions
Q: Is it difficult to install a fuel tank?
A: It is a moderate to difficult job that usually takes 4–8 hours. We recommend having proper tools and safety equipment.
Q: Why does my fuel gauge not work after installing a new tank?
A: The most common cause is an old or incompatible sending unit. The ohm range must match your vehicle’s gauge.
